The Energy business unit's purpose is to engineer a decarbonized, cleaner, and a more sustainable electrified future. Developing solutions for the digitized grid, renewable energy generation, energy storage, EV charging infrastructure, smart meters and electrified powertrain, the group supports customers with break-through technology to convert, manage, and store electrical power.

As the transformation of the energy grid and the electrification of transportation continues to accelerate apace, the Energy group of Analog Devices is looking to make several appointments to key positions within the group.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Functional Safety (FuSa/FS) Principal Engineer to join our Energy team in either Ireland or Germany. The successful candidate will bring expertise in functional safety at both the micro and macro levels while leading the definition for functional safety products and systems for the energy market. This role offers an exciting opportunity to tackle challenging projects, collaborate with a talented team, and contribute to groundbreaking innovations. Leadership qualities to drive best practices and advance the state-of-the-art are expected. The ability to work in close cooperation with large, cross-functional teams is essential. The candidate must have worked on automotive or industrial products with ASIL/SIL standards and be familiar with corresponding products and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and lead an Energy Functional Safety team which would support multiple end markets within the Sustainable Energy business unit
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, architecture, and specifications related to product development within the Sustainable Energy product group
• Direct support of ADI field team and customer's engineering teams (including their FuSa/FS engineers) in support of using ADI technology offerings for successful definition and deployment of their products.
• Interaction with third party safety assessors and certification bodies as relevant to Sustainable Energy markets.
• Educate product development engineering teams regarding Functional Safety.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Systems engineering experience for complex automotive & industrial applications
• Detailed knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO 61508, FTA, FMEDA, etc.
• Experience with safety systems architecture.
• Domain knowledge in semiconductor space (testing, silicon failure modes, etc.) for automotive/industrial/energy electronics.
• Applications domain knowledge within EV Charging Infrastructure, Energy Storage, EV Powertrain spaces.
• Current on Safe Operating Area (SOA) operational limits for semiconductor transistors.
  
  

Minimum Requirements:

• Batchelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in a Functional Safety related role.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and both independent and team-oriented work ethics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with effective teamwork and leadership capabilities. Good verbal and written English communication skills are essential.
