Operational Risk Manager

The Role

As an Operational Risk Manager, you will:

  1. Risk Scorecard Oversight: Monitor and manage performance against operational risk appetite statements, oversee key indicators, and ensure effective scorecard processes.
  2. Issue Management: Lead the implementation of the organisation's Issue Management programme, ensuring alignment with internal protocols and regulatory requirements.
  3. Reporting: Produce accurate, insightful risk reporting for senior management and committees, providing clear analysis and recommendations.
  4. Programme Development: Continuously improve operational risk policies, frameworks, and tools to enhance data quality and oversight activities.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with executive management, business line leaders, and risk teams across the organisation to foster a robust risk culture.
  6. Regulatory Compliance: Participate in regulatory change initiatives, ensuring adherence to all relevant guidelines while supporting continuous improvement efforts.

About You

Skills & Competencies

  1. Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify unusual trends or anomalies.
  2. Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing abilities to manage diverse stakeholder expectations.
  3. Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Adept at simplifying complex data into clear, impactful reports and presentations.

Experience

  1. Previous experience developing and implementing risk policies and tools, including managing risk registers and loss data collection.
  2. Skilled in producing high-quality risk reports for senior-level committees.
  3. Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements in the financial services industry.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

  1. Relevant experience in operational risk management, ideally within a financial services setting.
