Senior Business Analyst – Finance Expertise Required (Contract) – On-site, London

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Business Analyst with strong finance domain expertise for a contract position based on-site in London. This role is ideal for someone who has a deep understanding of financial operations, products, and regulatory environments, and can lead initiatives to improve business performance through data-driven analysis and process optimisation.

You will be instrumental in analysing financial workflows, identifying gaps, and delivering high-impact solutions that align with both commercial objectives and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with finance teams, stakeholders, and IT to gather and document complex financial business requirements
• Analyse financial data, models, and workflows to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements
• Lead discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, and workshops across finance functions (e.g. FP&A, treasury, risk, accounting)
• Translate finance and regulatory requirements into clear technical specifications and process documentation
• Support delivery of finance systems enhancements or new implementations (e.g. reporting tools, ERP modules)
• Ensure alignment with UK financial regulations and internal audit/compliance standards
• Drive continuous improvement in financial performance reporting, cost control, and data integrity
  

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst
• Strong grasp of financial processes, such as budgeting, forecasting, balance sheet and P&L management, capital and liquidity reporting
• Solid understanding of UK financial regulations (e.g. FCA requirements, IFRS, MiFID II, Basel III)
• Highly analytical with the ability to interpret and manipulate financial data using Excel or reporting tools
• Proven track record working with stakeholders across finance, compliance, operations, and IT
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business language
• Proficiency in tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Power BI or other financial platforms
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field

Desirable

• Experience with finance systems such as SAP, CRM, Oracle Financials, Workday, Anaplan, or similar
• Professional certifications (e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA, BCS Business Analysis, CBAP)
• Exposure to change and transformation programmes within a finance environment
