Job Description:At Amazon Web Services (AWS), we run one of the largest networks in the world supporting the AWS Cloud globally. In order to manage this unimaginable scale, we are driving revolutionary changes to the way networks are conceived, designed, built and operated. We put services and algorithms in place to control and manage all layers of the Amazon network, from top of the rack switches (TORs) to our internet and private backbone facing routers. This software ecosystem must be intelligent, scalable and fault tolerant. Our vision is to ultimately have self-managed networks and our Network Lifecycle Management (NLM) organization is responsible for building key services that will enable this vision.
We are establishing a team of engineers that would build a set of foundational network services that form a core part of our Software Defined Networking (SDN) ecosystem. The main focus of the team will be to design and own a closed-loop system for the reservation of network entities associated to procurement activities. This service is vital for closing the gap between network capacity planning and our network automation systems. It is a crucial step towards our vision of a truly self-managed and adaptive network.
We are looking for smart, talented software engineers who want to get hands on experience with fully automated hyperscale data center networks, cloud infrastructure, large-scale software deployments, algorithms, distributed systems and service-oriented architectures (SOA). This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced and new Software Development Engineers wanting to solve some of the hard problems associated with config generation, modeling and storage at scale. No prior Networking experience required. In fact, we are looking for members with strong software services background to spearhead development of highly reliable scalable services.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Key job responsibilitiesAs member of the team you will:
- Design and develop highly scalable and reliable services that manage network configuration lifecycle.
- Work with peers, customers and partner engineering teams to develop state of the art solutions, incorporating new technologies, algorithms and innovations.
- Build technical roadmap to evolve our software services space.
- Above all build a solid career path with an exponential learning curve, while having fun and making history
Diverse Experiences: AWS values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn't followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don't let it stop you from applying.
Why AWS?Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. We pioneered cloud computing and never stopped innovating — that's why customers from the most successful startups to Global 500 companies trust our robust suite of products and services to power their businesses.
Inclusive Team CultureHere at AWS, it's in our nature to learn and be curious. Our employee-led affinity groups foster a culture of inclusion that empower us to be proud of our differences. Ongoing events and learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences, inspire us to never stop embracing our uniqueness.
Mentorship & Career GrowthWe're continuously raising our performance bar as we strive to become Earth's Best Employer. That's why you'll find endless knowledge-sharing, mentorship and other career-advancing resources here to help you develop into a better-rounded professional.
Work/Life BalanceWe value work-life harmony. Achieving success at work should never come at the expense of sacrifices at home, which is why we strive for flexibility as part of our working culture. When we feel supported in the workplace and at home, there's nothing we can't achieve in the cloud.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development.
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
