Division Overview:

The CCPC has two in-house legal divisions: (i) the Competition Legal Division, led by the Director of Competition Legal Division; and (ii) the Legal, Consumer and Corporate Division, led by the General Counsel & Director of Legal, Consumer and Corporate Division.

The available roles are in the Competition Legal Division, which comprises a specialised legal team advising on mergers and competition enforcement, including administrative and criminal matters. The division includes a Director, Deputy Directors, Senior Legal Advisors, and Legal Advisors. Focus areas are (1) merger control and (2) competition enforcement, with scope to work across both depending on business needs.

The division also engages external barristers and solicitors for legal advice as needed.

The Role:

The CCPC seeks to recruit two Senior Legal Advisors to work in the Competition Legal Division. This role offers an opportunity for competition/regulatory lawyers to influence Ireland's competition landscape and contribute to legal services in a dynamic, enforcement-driven environment.

The Senior Legal Advisors will provide high-quality, strategic legal advice on the CCPC's competition law functions, managing complex legal issues and meeting strict deadlines. Anticipating and addressing strategic legal issues proactively is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear, timely legal advice on competition law functions.
  • Lead or manage legal proceedings related to competition law.
  • Oversee performance and development of junior lawyers.
  • Manage external legal service providers.
  • Maintain effective relationships with internal divisions and external parties, including legal counsel, government officials, enforcement agencies, and the European Commission.
  • Represent the CCPC at national and international meetings and conferences.
  • Identify legislative reform areas and oversee proposals to government departments.
