Background

Title of Position: GIS & Data Graduate

Salary: €39,083 - €78,830

Background

TIIs core activities in the construction, operation and management of complex road and light rail infrastructure requires an expanding need to employ GIS and data management into our day-to-day operations.

TII is seeking a motivated and detail-orientated GIS and Data Graduate to join our team.This role will create mentorship and hands on opportunities to build expertise in GIS and Data through activelyapplying knowledge in real-world projects, support spatial data management, and contribute to innovative solutions across various Transportation initiatives.

The GIS and Data Graduate will need to demonstrate a thorough understanding of GIS technology and processes, along with a willingness to learn and grow within a team environment.

Role, Duties And Responsibilities

  • Support the Geospatial and Data Team in the collection, processing, analysis, and visualisation of spatial data.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of GIS datasets and databases.
  • Assist the team in developing workflows and automated processes to increase efficiencies, assist with automation of tasks and improve geospatial data integration.
  • Assist in publishing innovative web mapping applications and dashboards to disseminate TII data via internal (and external) applications.
  • Maintain geospatial datasets to ensure databases and web applications are up to-date, and develop new processes and procedures, as necessary.
  • Assisting technical leads with end-user departments and key stakeholders to understand needs; using input from the users - research, evaluate and implement custom solutions.
  • Expand the use of web mapping applications to additional users and groups within TII and for external users on the TII Website.
  • Provide user support for GIS web applications / web maps / other GIS queries.
  • Carry out other relevant duties, as directed by the Department Manager.

Note: The functions and responsibilities assigned to this position are based on the current stated role and may be changed from time to time. The person appointed will be required to demonstrate the flexibility necessary to fulfil other roles and responsibilities at a similar grade within TII and may be assigned to other such roles as business needs arise.

Essential Requirements

Character

Each candidate must be of good character.

Health

A candidate for and any person holding the role must be fully competent and capable of undertaking duties attached to the role and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service

Education & Experience

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the key competencies for a Grade 3 position, as well as the following experience and job-specific requirements:
  • A Degree or 3rd level professional qualification (NFQ Level 8 or equivalent) in GIS, Computer Sciences, Engineering, Geography, or allied discipline.
  • If you are a final year student who has recently completed exams you will be eligible to apply, however you will be required to provide proof of having achieved your qualification before any offer of employment can be made.
  • Experience in research, data analysis, or report writing.
  • A thorough understanding of ESRIs ArcGIS platform.
  • Familiarity with Safes FME platform.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and working with dashboard technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Fluency in the English language, both written and oral.

Desirable Requirements
  • Post-graduate qualification in GIS.
  • FME Experience.
  • Scripting skills Python, R, SQL etc.
  • Cloud technology skills Azure, AWS etc.
  • Interest in the transport sector and associated technology.
