Role: Staff Grade Physiotherapist

Location: Dublin

Setting: Hospital (Mental Health)

Contract Type: Permanent, full-time (37 hours per week). This is a fully onsite role.

TTM Healthcare are currently working with a 131-bed in-patient mental health service, based in South Dublin, in search of a Staff Grade Physiotherapist. They provide a spectrum of neuropsychiatric services to adults with a range of serious and enduring mental health needs such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's Disease, as well as individuals with early onset dementias, schizophrenia, and mood disorders.

There is a focus on creating a therapeutic environment by using recovery-oriented clinical practices and therapeutic interventions which are evidence-based to enable and support patients to achieve their highest level of functioning and quality of life. This care is delivered through a Multidisciplinary Team including colleagues in Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, and General Practice.

With over 200 multidisciplinary team members delivering the highest standards of care in a friendly and inclusive workplace.

Duties:
  1. Carry a clinical caseload appropriate to the post.
  2. Be responsible for client assessment, development and implementation of individualised treatment plans that are client-centred and in line with best practice.
  3. Be responsible for goal setting in partnership with the client, family and other team members as appropriate.
  4. Communicate and work in co-operation with other team members.
  5. Develop effective communication with and provide instruction, guidance and support to service users, family, carers etc.
  6. Document client records in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies.
  7. Provide a service in varied locations in line with local policy/guidelines and within appropriate time allocation.
  8. Participate in review meetings, case conferences, ward rounds etc. as appropriate.
  9. Maintain quality standards of work and co-operate with quality assurance programmes.
  10. Seek the advice of relevant personnel when appropriate/as required.
  11. Maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality, ethics, and legislation.
  12. Operate within own scope of Physiotherapy practice as per CORU requirements and in accordance with local guidelines.
  13. Sufficient knowledge in Ortho rehabilitation, Neuro rehabilitation, Cardiac rehabilitation.
  14. Actively participate in the improvement and development of Physiotherapy services by working collaboratively with team members.
  15. Must have experience working with older adults.
Requirements:
  1. Be registered (or in the process of registering) on the Physiotherapist register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.
  2. Have two to three years full-time (or an aggregate of three years) post-qualification clinical experience.
  3. Hold a degree in Physiotherapy or an equivalent qualification and be eligible for membership with the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists.
  4. Have established clinical and management experience in the areas of Mental Health, Older Persons, Frail Elderly and have clinical experience of associated medical conditions and/or in palliative care.
  5. Previous experience in a mental health environment and working with Huntington's patients is an advantage.
  6. Have a good knowledge and experience of health, safety and other statutory regulations affecting a healthcare organisation.
  7. Excellent people management experience and skills.
