Location: Dublin City Centre, Hybrid, Ireland

Day Rate: €400 - €500 per day (dependent on experience)

Duration: 6 months, with potential for extension

A dynamic, project-drive organisation in Dublin is seeking to rapidly increase their data analytics expertise in Power BI.

As a Power BI Data Analyst with at least 5 years of dedicated experience, you will be transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights supporting decision making processes. This role requires an individual who can hit the ground running, deliver high-quality solutions independently, and seamlessly integrate with existing teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Quickly design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data models within Power BI, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and optimal performance for project-specific needs. This includes extensive use of Power Query (M Language) for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from various defined sources (e.g., SQL databases, APIs, cloud data warehouses like Azure Synapse/Data Lake).
• Develop visually compelling, user-friendly, and insightful Power BI reports and interactive dashboards with speed and precision, directly addressing the immediate analytical requirements of project stakeholders.
• Apply complex and efficient DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) formulas to create calculated columns, measures, and tables, enabling advanced analytics and custom calculations within Power BI models for project deliverables.
• Work closely and efficiently with business users to rapidly understand project challenges, identify critical data needs, and translate complex business questions into clear, actionable technical specifications for reporting solutions.
• Ensure data quality and consistency within the scope of project deliverables and Power BI solutions.
• Identify and implement strategies to optimise Power BI report and dashboard performance within the contract timeframe, ensuring efficient data refresh schedules.
• Manage and deploy Power BI reports and dashboards within the Power BI Service, ensuring appropriate access and security for project users.
• Document developed solutions clearly and efficiently, facilitating smooth handover and long-term maintainability for internal teams.
• Demonstrate strong self-management and a results-driven approach to meet project milestones and deadlines.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience working specifically as a Power BI Data Analyst or in a similar role with a strong focus on Power BI.
• Expert-level proficiency in Power BI Desktop, including advanced data modelling, Power Query (M), and DAX.
• Proven experience with Power BI Service for deployment, security, and refresh management is essential. Experience with advanced features (e.g., deployment pipelines, premium features) is a strong plus.
• Strong SQL skills for querying, manipulating, and understanding relational databases.
• Demonstrable experience with various data sources, including relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL), and cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, AWS Redshift).
• Track record of designing and developing compelling, actionable dashboards and reports within tight project timelines.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy, capable of rapid insight generation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a project environment.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage workload effectively, and integrate quickly into existing project teams.
• Experience in a previous contract or project-based data analysis role.
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and agile ETL processes.
• Knowledge of Python or R for specific data preparation or analysis tasks.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative development.
