Director of Nursing Role

We are currently looking for a Director of Nursing

The Nursing Home is a purpose-built home set beautifully in quiet, discreet grounds in Naas, Kildare.

The main duties & responsibilities are as follows:

  • Ensuring our Residents receive an excellent standard of care.
  • Maintaining compliance in line with Regulations and striving to exceed the Standards.
  • Assessing the social and health care needs of new clients.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments and reviews of all clients.
  • Keeping the occupancy of the home at an efficient level by liaising with various referrers in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
  • Meeting all aspects of clients' care needs, providing health supervision, and enlisting services of GPs, Public Health Nurses, and other medical and para-medical services as appropriate.
  • Maintaining and improving the quality of each client's life by paying meticulous attention to privacy, dignity, autonomy, choice, rights, and fulfillment.
  • Developing social and leisure activities to enhance the quality of clients' lives.
  • Maintaining and enhancing your own professional knowledge and competence.
  • Training and mentoring junior staff to ensure high standards through teaching and example.
  • Ensuring all new staff understand the aims of the Home and receive proper induction training.
  • Supporting staff development by encouraging participation in recognized training courses.
  • Managing staff rotas and recruiting as necessary with approval from the CEO.
  • Handling disciplinary procedures with proper documentation for minor offences.
  • Participating in staff meetings, training, and development activities.
  • Reviewing routines within the Home and making necessary improvements.
  • Ensuring cleanliness, maintenance, and proper heating of rooms, common, and operational areas, and maintaining equipment.
  • Meeting dietary and nutritional needs of residents.
  • Maintaining all required nursing, care, and drug records as per regulations.
  • Controlling the ordering, storage, and administration of drugs responsibly, maintaining accurate records.
