Dublin, Dublin City, Ireland TN Ireland Full time

An important part of the staff role is to support our service users who have complex needs and help them to manage their emotions.

So the ability to be resilient, to communicate effectively and to utilise a variety of communication tools is essential.

Our dedicated staff team support our service users to learn and develop their independence skills which includes tasks such as shopping, cleaning their flat, personal care, accessing the community, budgeting, and taking medication. Each staff member has something to bring to the role and we encourage staff to use their humour and sense of fun and creativity in supporting our service users with day-to-day life.

Where You Would Work: Arlee Respite

Arlee Respite Service is founded upon the values and vision of Praxis Care.

Arlee's vision is leading the co-production of innovative, individualised care and support approaches with the mission of empowering lives that are valued, meaningful and inclusive regardless of complexity of need, every day.

Arlee provides planned residential respite breaks in a safe and welcoming "home from home" environment. The service provides respite to a maximum of four adults at any one time, between the ages of 18 and 65 years. The service provides safe, effective, and high-quality care and support to individuals experiencing mental ill health, learning disability, or brain injury to enable them to live as independently as possible in their own community. A person-centred approach to the service user's needs is implemented within Arlee and each person has a named key worker.

Arlee Respite is a large two-storey building with seven bedrooms. The centre is located in Dundalk where the service users have access to numerous amenities during their respite stays. The location of the service was specifically chosen to enhance the independence of service users due to its close proximity to schools, adult education, amenities and bus and train services.

Each Service User has their own bedroom and en suite with space for their personal possessions and belongings and private living needs, consistent with that found in a regular family home environment.

Service Users have full use of a sitting room, large kitchen and dining room, and a utility room.

Other amenities include a gaming room/sitting room, beauty room/cinema room, and arts & crafts room. Service Users also have full access to a spacious enclosed back garden.

Arlee Respite Service is support worker-led. Safe staffing levels are two staff per day with 255 weekly commissioned hours. At present staff hours are allocated as follows:

  • Daily sleep over staff member/shift leader: 11am-11.30am (including 30 min handover)
  • Daily awake at night duty: 10pm to 10am
  • Monday to Friday: 3pm-10pm shift
  • Saturday and Sunday: 10am-10pm shift

There are 52 Service users in Arlee at present and we continue to grow due to the demand and we look forward to meeting all individuals who come into Arlee for their short break.
