RPS is seeking applications for the position of Ecologists (terrestrial, ornithologists and/or aquatic specialisms) to join our Ecology Team in Ireland. Positions are available at various experience levels in our offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Sligo, and Kilkenny.

About The Team:

Our Ecology Team, one of Ireland's leading teams in this sector, provides high-value technical advisory services in areas such as EIA, AA, SEA, climate change, and sustainability to clients across transport, water, energy, natural, and built environment sectors.

The RPS Ecology Team has a reputation for successfully delivering Ireland's most challenging projects and contributing to national policies through the SEA process.

About The Role:

The role involves supporting ecological impact assessments (EIA), ecological surveys, biodiversity chapters, Appropriate Assessment (AA), nature-based solutions, and regenerative/restorative designs.

You will work under a lead ecologist on multidisciplinary projects, liaising with clients and stakeholders.

About You:

Candidates should have at least two years' experience in environmental assessment roles, with a proven track record in EIA and AA processes.

Key Skills/Attributes:

  • Motivated with good interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent field skills and knowledge of Irish wildlife;
  • Experience in habitat classification, badger, otter, bat, bird, and invasive species surveys;
  • Familiarity with Irish and European legislation (Habitats Directive, Birds Directive, EIA Directive);
  • Knowledge of Appropriate Assessment procedures;
  • Data recording and processing skills;
  • Experience with GIS/mapping systems;
  • Full clean driving license and access to a vehicle.

Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate qualification (MSc) in a relevant biological/environmental science with practical experience;
  • Degree in Ecology.
