The Tyndall National Institute at University College Cork is seeking multiple Postdoctoral Researchers in RF and Antenna Design.
The Tyndall National Institute is a world leader in wearable sensor systems development, collaborating with academic, business, and clinical partners. Our technology is nearing market readiness in various areas.
The WSN Group at Tyndall invites applications for Postdoctoral Researcher positions focusing on antenna and RF design, simulation, and measurement in this rapidly expanding R&D field.
This is an initial 12-month contract with potential for extension, depending on performance and funding.
Reporting to the WSN Head of Group, this role offers an opportunity to define and implement an antenna research program in the wearable sensing systems sector.
The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, researchers, and postgraduate students, contributing to applied antenna research, project management, proposal writing, student supervision, and dissemination activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day applied research and technical projects related to antenna and RF design for wireless sensing systems.
- Design, simulate, and characterize antennas and RF circuits for embedded wireless sensing solutions.
- Enhance Tyndall's international standing in wireless sensing systems.
- Collaborate with industry partners to identify Connected Health needs.
- Participate in educational and public engagement activities.
- Ensure compliance with Tyndall's Quality Management system and health and safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as required within the scope of the role.
Requirements
- PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field, with typically 2 years Post-Doc experience.
- Proven track record in Antenna/Microwave/RF design, research strategy, proposal development, and publications.
- Skills in antenna and microwave circuit design, wireless energy harvesting, EM analysis using HFSS and Microwave Office, RF measurement techniques, PCB design, and RF test equipment.
- Experience with EM effects on the Human Body.
- Strong project management, research proposal writing, and team leadership skills.
- Approximately 3 years of experience in antenna and RF design.
- Demonstrated independent research capability and experience supervising students.
- Strong publication record.
