Overview

MD, Head of Legal - Ireland based in Dublin with hybrid working. A senior leadership role leading a legal team for a major global financial institution, with responsibility for custodial, trustee, and fund administration matters, as well as broader legal, regulatory, and corporate governance issues.

Location: Dublin, Ireland. Salary: € market leading salary + bonus & benefits.

This is a permanent opening as Head of Legal – Ireland, reporting to the General Counsel.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the principal legal counsel and strategic advisor to senior management across the organisation's Irish legal entities and business operations.
  • Lead a team of five lawyers and one paralegal.
  • Provide advice on custodial, trustee, and fund administration matters.
  • Address broader legal, regulatory, and corporate governance issues.
  • Negotiate fund and custody documentation and manage complex transactions.
  • Advise senior stakeholders and manage relationships with external counsel to ensure timely, commercially focused legal advice.
  • Influence decision-making at the highest level and stay abreast of Irish, EU, and EMEA legal and regulatory trends impacting financial services.
Qualifications
  • A qualified lawyer with 15+ years PQE, with a legal background in an international financial services institution.
  • Experience in custody, depositary, fund administration, and fund accounting.
  • Proven leadership experience with direct team management.
  • Strong communication and gravitas with the ability to influence across local and international senior management teams.
  • Familiarity with managing relationships with external counsel and delivering timely, commercially focused legal advice.
  • Knowledge of current Irish, EU, and EMEA legal and regulatory trends in financial services.
