Enterprise Architect

My Dublin based client is recruiting for an experienced and dynamic Enterprise Architect to oversee critical technology decisions within one of our divisions. The successful candidate will be responsible for mapping current (as-is) and future (to-be) architecture states, while defining transitional architecture strategies. This role is pivotal in ensuring our systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with strategic goals, with a strong emphasis on digital transformation to enable exceptional capabilities for our stakeholders and partners.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and maintain scalable enterprise architectures.
• Document current (as-is) architecture to support strategic planning and identify improvement opportunities.
• Define target (to-be) architectures to meet strategic and operational objectives.
• Promote and implement capability-based planning across the organization.
• Ensure solution alignment with enterprise strategy in collaboration with Solution Architects.
• Assess existing architectures and propose enhancements for performance, resilience, and scalability.
• Capture non-functional requirements such as scalability, disaster recovery, and security.
• Stay current on emerging technologies and industry best practices.
• Lead an Architecture Review Board within your division, aligned with organizational architecture governance.
• Engage with technology vendors to assess and select solutions that meet business needs.
• Manage vendor relationships to ensure service-level compliance and cost-efficiency.
• Collaborate with procurement teams for contract negotiations.
• Conduct ongoing vendor reviews to ensure alignment with evolving priorities.

Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand needs and deliver aligned solutions.
• Support project teams by anticipating upcoming architectural demands.
• Advocate for innovative, strategic technologies within your area of expertise.
• Assess architecture-related risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Define and support change management processes to ensure smooth transitions and minimize disruptions.

Project Support

• Align with active project or program guidelines and objectives.
• Provide regular updates and status reports to project teams.
• Prioritize tasks based on project timelines and dependencies.

Key Skills, Experience & Competencies

• Strong background in Enterprise Architecture with experience in setting principles and managing by exception.
• Proven leadership and ability to inspire innovation.
• Experience working across digital and retail systems is beneficial.
• Proficient in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong vendor negotiation and performance evaluation capabilities.
• Skilled at analyzing complex systems and proposing actionable solutions.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards including data protection (e.g., GDPR).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in business process mapping and benefits realization analysis.
• Deep understanding of solution modeling and architectural viewpoints.

Technical Skills

• TOGAF certification or equivalent (preferred).
• Experience with architecture tools such as LeanIX (a plus).
• Strong knowledge of Azure and other cloud environments.
• Proficient with ERP/CRM systems and SaaS platforms.
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, and low-code platforms.
• Understanding of cloud security and integration best practices.
