Design Build Search is working closely with one of Cork's leading contractors. Due to exciting growth across multiple sectors, they have an opening for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (QS). The successful applicant will be based at our client's head office, located 30 minutes northwest of Cork City. The role involves working on a diverse range of projects including residential, industrial, education, and fit-out.

Scope of Projects:

Residential, fit-out, education, and industrial.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Hold a degree in construction economics or Quantity Surveying.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience.
  • Ability to price and estimate projects.
  • Ability to agree on final accounts and negotiate with sub-contractors.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze blueprints and documentation to prepare estimates for time, cost, materials, and labor.
  • Perform all quantity surveying duties including measurements, valuations, and agreement of work sections.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in estimating packages, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, and personnel from other departments or construction managers to discuss costs.
  • Monitor costs from vendors or subcontractors, explore variances, manage issues, and deal with cost recovery.
  • Report on actual costs and review estimates used by management for planning and scheduling.
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other documentation throughout the project.
  • Assess cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs against bids as the project progresses.
  • Establish cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
  • Conduct studies to develop standard hours and related cost data for cost reduction.
