Overview

We are seeking a Senior Architect & Building Compliance Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team, delivering architectural services across the full project lifecycle—from feasibility to construction—for major power generation infrastructure projects. This role covers both new developments and the maintenance/refurbishment of existing assets, with a strong emphasis on building compliance, technical guidance, and design excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the architectural design process for assigned projects.
  • Champion and embed a strong safety and quality culture throughout all project phases.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to define project scope, programme requirements, and budget parameters.
  • Manage and coordinate external consultants during design and construction stages.
  • Oversee contract administration during the construction phase.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project implementation plans covering scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Ensure adherence to Planning, Fire Safety, Safety & Health, and other statutory requirements.
  • Maintain and manage project information in line with company procedures.
  • Provide specialist technical advice on feasibility and design implementation, contract management, building control compliance, and sustainable design aligned with industry best practice.
  • Act as Design Certifier and/or Assigned Certifier under the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations.
  • Review technical reports, manage consultants, and develop solutions to technical challenges.
  • Research, prepare, and critically review design briefs.
  • Analyse client needs and translate them into actionable project plans.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to make informed decisions and solve problems.
  • Balance commercial viability, budget, and procurement constraints while delivering high-quality designs.
  • Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Eligibility to act as Design Certifier and/or Assigned Certifier under the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
  • NFQ Level 8 Degree in Architecture or related discipline (or equivalent qualification).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a consultant architect with a strong project portfolio.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant Irish regulations, legislation, and guidance.
  • Strong design awareness with the ability to balance commercial viability, budget, and procurement constraints.
  • Proven track record delivering large, complex architectural projects, including leading in-house and external design teams.
  • Experience in Contract Administration and navigating Planning, Building Control, and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Competence in safety management, including acting as Project Supervisor Design Phase (PSDP).
  • Ability to research, prepare, and critically review design briefs.
  • Skilled in analysing client needs and translating them into actionable project plans.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in collaboration with key stakeholders.
