This is a high-profile role that involves working closely with Partners, senior personnel within Grant Thornton Ireland and our international network, and with key finance people in publicly listed companies and multinational environments.

The Role

Main responsibilities

• Proficient accountant with a strong understanding of GAAP
• Experience of working with multinational corporations, in an industry or practice setting
• Experience with accounting, financial reporting and/or supporting auditing of international entities across multiple jurisdictions in EMEA, APAC and the Americas
• Strong experience in the preparation of financial statements under IFRS, UK and Irish GAAP; other jurisdictions desirable but not essential
• Assist in maintaining and developing key client relationships
• Assist in proposal and business development work, preparing budgets, liaising with international offices and partners/directors
• Play a key role in the wider Grant Thornton international community, including internal committees and project work
• Design and implement project plans with effective delegation of tasks to junior team members and appropriate coaching
• Ensure completion of assignments within budget and timeframe
• Self-motivated with the ability to work within a team; manage a team on assignment
• Responsible for development and mentoring staff
• Working knowledge of ONESOURCE and/or Caseware for accounts preparation is desirable
• Experience with an electronic auditing package is an advantage
• Strong communication and report writing skills; advanced Excel skills
• Commercial/business awareness; a passion for client service; genuine interest in IFRS and financial reporting
• Ability to learn quickly and keep abreast of developments (particularly IFRS)

Skills And Experience

• Recognised accounting qualification
• Audit background an advantage
• Experience in a top 20 practice or multinational environment
• Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in auditing or preparing financial statements
• Strong people and project management skills
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, UK & Irish GAAP; familiarity with other GAAPs (e.g., German, French, Spanish) is a benefit but not essential
