Post Summary

The development of Irish-medium and Gaeltacht Education, and of Irish-language education is an overt policy priority in Ireland. The sector is engaging with challenges such as the changing sociolinguistic context of the Gaeltacht, changing demographics nationally, the supply and retention of teachers, and the provision of opportunities to develop educators' practice. These issues are a growing focus of research, teaching, and practice in Trinity's School of Education.

The successful candidate will be a specialist in immersion and Gaeltacht education and/or applied linguistics and will advocate for the Irish language within Irish education and society. They will be fully conversant with the Council of Europe Framework of Reference for Languages and European and national policy regarding the Irish language.

The successful candidate will teach and supervise on the Irish language education programmes in the School, including the supervision of postgraduate student research. The post-holder will undertake research, knowledge generation, and dissemination in the field of Irish language education.

Post status: 2.5 Year, Specific Purpose Contract

Salary: This appointment will be made on the Lecturer Full Salary Scale (€41,500 - €99,550 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.
