At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

As a Senior or Principal Drainage Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions across Ireland and beyond. With a strong technical foundation and experience in highway and urban drainage design—ideally within the Irish market—you'll support the Drainage Discipline Lead in delivering high-quality drainage services across all stages of project development.

You'll coordinate with colleagues across Ireland, the UK, and our Global Delivery Centres to ensure technical excellence and seamless collaboration. Your expertise in hydraulic modelling and drainage design software will help drive innovation and efficiency, while your mentorship of junior engineers will contribute to the continuous improvement of our drainage capability.

In this role, you will

  • Deliver technically robust drainage designs that meet client and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery.
  • Support junior engineers in their development and contribute to a culture of learning and improvement.
  • Apply sustainable design principles and innovative thinking to solve complex drainage challenges.
  • Work flexibly from Dublin or the surrounding area, with regular engagement at office and client sites.

Jacobs' Transportation team is recognised for delivering high-profile projects for clients such as Transport Infrastructure Ireland, National Highways, Transport Scotland, Network Rail, Welsh Government, HS2 Ltd, and numerous Local Authorities. With a growing portfolio in Ireland and internationally, this role offers the opportunity to influence major infrastructure developments while advancing your career in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.

Thriving communities. Healthy cities. A brighter future.

If you're ready to take the next step and make a meaningful impact—Jacobs is ready to invest in you.

Here's what you'll need
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards chartership
  • Based in Ireland (Dublin or surrounding area preferred)
  • Experience in drainage design for highways and urban environments
  • Strong understanding of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) standards and the SuDS Manual and other drainage guidance
  • Proficiency in drainage modelling software and tools
  • Working knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust across teams and with clients
