Site Master Scheduler - Shanbally, Ringaskiddy, Cork

Hybrid Role

Description

BioMarin is the world leader in delivering therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with serious and life-threatening rare genetic diseases. We target diseases that lack effective therapies and affect relatively small numbers of patients, many of whom are children. These conditions are often inherited, difficult to diagnose, progressively debilitating and have few, if any, treatment options. BioMarin will continue to focus on advancing therapies that are the first or best of their kind.

BioMarin's Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin's cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients. Come join our team and make a meaningful impact on patients' lives.

The Site Master Scheduler provides the linkage between strategy and the tactical execution required to deliver on the mission of Technical Operations: innovate and implement agile and robust capabilities to rapidly offer an uninterrupted supply of high-quality products to patients in an efficient and compliant manner. Sales & Operations Planning is the primary link between the strategic plan and the tactical plan. This process provides the connection between the desired outcome and the actual outcome. One of the direct outputs of the Sales & Operations Plan is the Production Plan. This plan is the marching order for the Site Master Scheduler.

The Site Master Scheduler must ensure that the sum of the individual items in the Master Schedule matches the Production Plan. Accomplishing this closes the loop between the business plan and the company's daily & weekly activities. This crucial role translates the production plan into a master schedule each month. They also facilitate plant governance that focuses on (production and non-production) order performance in alignment with the production plan end item due date commitments. As such, they act as the "conductor" prioritizing orders in the system by assigning due dates that can be converted into detailed and shop floor control schedules as needed.

Responsibilities

  1. Define and update, regularly and routinely, with work centre owners and identified process experts, the parameters needed for rough cut and detailed capacity planning—including lead times, yields, success rates, run rates, and production calendars.
  2. Participate in internal plant governance, leading or facilitating as needed, to ensure that priorities and due dates are valid, clear, and aligned across work centres in a shared, aligned, and realistic manner.
  3. Strong focus on visibility boards for all Shanbally Make/Assess/Release measures and status with particular focus on Scheduling and S&OP.
  4. Own and enforce the production schedule time fences: frozen, trading, and free.
  5. Convert the supply network plan orders in the approved production plan into process orders in a master schedule for the plant.
  6. Develop and support local and global programs/initiatives to deliver transformational change and continuous improvement across our processes and KPI's.
  7. Proactively troubleshoot complex issues & continually supports Supply Chain Operations Planning & Scheduling team and colleagues from other functional groups.
  8. Align with strategies and realization of company, site, and functional goals.
  9. Create master production plan for all manufactured products and maintain master plan in SAP.
  10. Analyse and identify risks associated with options built into the master plan incl lead times.
  11. Perform demand consolidation reviews each month and follow up with customers on changes +/- 5%.
  12. Main POC for customer sites.
  13. Work with supply chain to communicate any supply risks that may arise due to increased sales forecast or supply delays in production.
  14. Provide input into the corporate inventory targeting process.
  15. Maintain inventory target levels to ensure service levels i.e. product availability.
  16. Timely report of KPIs and OKRs.
  17. Owner of S&OE process at the site.
  18. Business owner for the detailed scheduling process at site.
  19. Mentor and coach the schedulers across the work centres ensuring they are growing and developing while using the same principles and standards across all scheduler roles.
  20. Balance supply and demand while optimizing inventory and minimizing impact to demand volatility.
  21. Create and publish monthly/quarterly factory schedule adherence, capacity and inventory reports.
  22. Conduct demonstrated lead time analysis.
  23. Maintain data integrity of ERP planning attributes.
  24. Leading IPB dialog for the site after handover from Global SC.
  25. Liaison with PSCO's on customer needs.
  26. Monitoring of Safety stock and Inventory levels E2E.
  27. Developing future state scheduling for E2E.
  28. Signing off on Scenarios (DWS etc).
  29. Realising the inventory and LT savings by deploying E2E practices.
  30. Deployment of Segmentation.

SCOPE

The work product from the Master Scheduler will indirectly support product revenue and other programs executed in the network, will be a significant driver for Manufacturing expenses, and will highly impact operational and transportation costs of external operations. The Master Scheduler is an individual contributor role.
