Senior Occupational Therapist

We are currently recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist to join a dedicated team delivering acute care to older adults in Donegal. This role is based within a specialised Older Person Unit, focused on rehabilitation, recovery, and supporting independence in later life.

About the Role:
As a Senior OT, you will provide advanced clinical care to older adults in an acute setting. You'll play a key role in functional assessment, discharge planning, and enabling older patients to maintain independence and quality of life. You'll also contribute to service development, clinical leadership, and mentoring of junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Occupational Therapist:

  • Deliver timely, person-centred OT interventions in an acute care setting
  • Lead on discharge planning and liaise with families, community services, and MDT colleagues
  • Provide supervision and support to staff and students
  • Contribute to clinical audits, service development, and quality improvement initiatives

Requirements for the Senior Occupational Therapist:

  • CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist
  • Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience (including work in acute, geriatric, or rehab settings)
  • Strong assessment and discharge planning skills
  • Excellent communication and team-working abilities

Desirable:

  • Experience in manual handling, equipment prescription, or cognitive assessments in older persons
  • Leadership or quality improvement experience
