Position: HGV Driver

Transportation of own and 3rd party product to and from customers' premises in a controlled manner. All routes are within the isle of Ireland, with no trips overseas. There are no overnight stays in cabs; drivers will be planned to finish at the depot. Bay to bay deliveries to all the major retailer distribution depots in Ireland, with no tail lift deliveries. All driver CPC courses are arranged by the company. On-site training is provided.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
  1. Driving HGV to deliver our product to own customer sites and collecting 3rd party products.
  2. Ensuring PODs/Delivery dockets are signed and returned in a timely manner.
  3. Dealing with customers on a regular basis and reporting issues back to the office.
  4. Complying with customer rules while on their site(s).
  5. Washing both trucks and trailers as required or instructed, including the inside of trailers.
  6. Small repairs and maintenance jobs as required (e.g., changing bulbs, steps, checking for oil and water, etc.).
  7. Adhoc duties, including van driving, shunting trailers, and yard work.
  8. Multi-drop delivery work on behalf of other Keelings businesses or associated companies.
  9. Pre-trip and end-of-day defect reporting.
  10. Securing pallets and trolleys in trailers/trucks to ensure goods arrive at their destination in the same order as loaded.
  11. Setting up the temperature of fridge units, monitoring and reporting.
Key Skills & Knowledge:
  1. Good knowledge of retail deliveries within Ireland.
  2. Good knowledge of refrigerated transport.
  3. Good team player.
  4. Full clean EU cat C / C+E driving licence (UK Licences not covered in ROI).
  5. Up-to-date digital tachograph card and CPC card.
  6. Minimum 1 year's experience in driving HGVs.
  7. Experience in the use of refrigerated temperature-controlled vehicles/trailers.
  8. Experience in container work.
  9. Required to pass drivers assessment prior to start.
  10. Required to undergo training prior to start.
  11. Experience in yard shunting is an advantage but not essential.
  12. Trained in the use of power pallet trucks and forklifts is an advantage.
  13. Mechanical background would be an advantage but not necessary.
  14. Eco-driving training is an advantage but not necessary.
Specific Requirements:

Flexibility is required to work outside the normal hours to suit the requirements of the business. Start times and days of work could be changed at short notice (on the day). Flexibility for days of work is essential. Work 4 days over 7 days or nights with no fixed shift pattern.
