
Legionella Control Technician

To carry out Legionella risk assessments, monitoring, and control measures in accordance with ACoP L8, HSG274, and relevant health & safety legislation. The technician ensures water systems are maintained in a safe and compliant condition to prevent Legionella and other waterborne pathogens.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform routine monitoring and inspection tasks, including:
- Temperature checks
- Tank inspections
- Tank Cleaning and Disinfections
- Showerhead cleaning and disinfection
- TMV (Thermostatic Mixing Valve) servicing
- Take water samples for microbiological analysis and ensure accurate logging
- Complete flushing regimes on infrequently used outlets
- Install and maintain water system monitoring equipment
- Record findings clearly and accurately using paper and digital systems
- Identify non-compliance issues and escalate, as necessary
- Advise clients on remedial actions and best practices
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety and COSHH guidelines
- Maintain tools, equipment, and PPE in good condition
- Experience in water hygiene or Legionella control (1+ years preferred)
- Understanding of ACoP L8, HSG274, and Water Regulations
- City & Guilds (or equivalent) Legionella Control certification (desirable)
- Full clean driving license
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- IT literate (Microsoft Office, report writing tools)
- Methodical and detail oriented
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
- Professional and respectful in customer environments
- Plumbing or water treatment background
- Knowledge of closed system sampling and testing
- Experience with digital compliance systems
