The Midlands Simon Community is now recruiting a Fundraising Manager.

REPORTS TO: Head of Services

LOCATION: Based in Athlone

HOURS: Full Time (39 hours/week).

CONTRACT: Permanent full-time

ROLE SUMMARY: This is an exciting role which will require the successful individual to take a hands-on approach to raise the profile of Midlands Simon Community and grow the fundraising income from Irish and EU perspectives, to support the organisation in its development goals in the Midlands Region.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Implement the Midland Simon Community's fundraising strategy to achieve targets and increase the profile of the organisation in line with the overall fundraising plan and strategy.
  • Review and adjust the fundraising plan every 3 months, if appropriate, and on an annual basis.
  • Supervise other fundraising staff and fundraising volunteers.
  • Recruit volunteers and strengthen and build relationships with current volunteers.
  • Identify and develop collaborative partnerships with Corporate Companies, Schools, Universities, Enterprise Centres, local communities, and other relevant companies.
  • Develop and manage annual fundraising activities to reach budgets in line with overall fundraising strategy; monitor and analyse performance and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Increase income opportunities from local and national events, campaigns, and other activities by building effective relationships with community supporters and volunteers and by supporting the fundraising staff.
  • Develop, pilot, and help to evaluate innovative and new approaches to fundraising, such as increasing online donations, EU funding opportunities, local government funding opportunities, and utilising social media platforms as a means of fundraising.
  • Develop and establish a system of donor development through direct marketing and communication systems to increase income from volunteers, committees, groups, and individual supporters and to ensure that donors become long-term and high-level supporters.
  • Identify and pursue grants available to Midlands Simon Community (MSC) from various Irish and EU agencies.
  • Work with local and national media in communicating agreed key fundraising and programme messages.
  • Work in collaboration with national and regional partners in agreed areas to maximise impact.
  • Work with the Head of Services and the C.E.O on the development of the fundraising strategy and an efficient monthly budget plan to maintain the MSC fundraising strategy.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date income records and that tax claims are made to the Revenue Commissioners.
  • Supervise Midland Simon Community fundraising staff members & volunteers.
  • Set and review annual objectives and ensure performance management processes are implemented in accordance with company policy.
  • Manage compliance with Midland Simon Community expenditure, holiday/absence, meeting processes, travel, and other general procedures.

Developing and Managing Key Relationships within Midlands Simon Community:

  • Ensure a clear flow of information and work closely with other staff and other relevant departments (Finance, Projects) to identify revenue opportunities.
  • Together with the Head of Services implement fundraising and communications strategy initiatives, including the development of high-level and major donor programmes.
  • Recruit and support fundraising volunteers to maximise their efforts.

General:

  • Cash handling, banking, acknowledging, and receipting income in accordance with Midland Simon Community's policies and procedures.
  • Review and approve in collaboration with the Head of Services community fundraising expenses and process invoices for payment.
  • Always maintain confidentiality regarding supporter information, and ensure compliance with the GDPR.
  • Fulfil responsibilities under health and safety regulations.
  • Keep up to date with the current issues and developments in the fundraising arena. Establish memberships and liaise with professional bodies, agencies, and other associations to ensure industry best practice. Undertake training as necessary.
  • Understand and ensure adherence and compliance with charitable legislation in relation to fundraising.
  • Undertake other duties as required commensurate with the post.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-2 years fundraising experience and experience in organising events, activities.
  • Proven track record in successful income generation from either the commercial or not-for-profit sectors and reaching or exceeding targets.
  • Computer literate, including the use of databases and Microsoft Office suite.
  • High level of competence in using social media to advance fundraising and communications objectives.
  • Strong empathy with and compassion for those affected by homelessness.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Self-starter with initiative and drive and an ability to think creatively and identify opportunities.
