Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
AWS GCNA (Global Connectivity and Network Availability) is the backbone that connects the global AWS network. It is dedicated to control the internet traffic that allows users to access their information and applications regardless of where they are in the world. GCNA is also responsible for building and designing a complex backbone network that allows internet traffic to flow efficiently between Data Centers and customers.
If you like to work with new technologies and optimize existing technology, and have experience participating in network/systems support for a large-scale enterprise or a service provider, we encourage you to apply Your work will play a key role in driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks.
Key job responsibilities
- You will be driving programs deploying AWS networking infrastructure in AWS Data centers and transit centers, to meet the ever-growing customer demand.
- Manage multiple competing cross-organizational projects/programs simultaneously on a global scale.
- Interact with Engineers, Data Center Technicians, Cross team Deployment Managers, Cross team Technical Program Managers and Senior Management.
- Participate in engineering reviews of network design.
- Run meetings, create and maintain timelines, and keep large, diverse groups informed of progress and obstacles.
- Work with engineers to develop detailed and creative solutions to complex problems, while keeping a watchful eye on timelines and costs.
- Ensure consistency in deployed configurations and track exceptions for follow up.
- Drive simplification efforts in engineering and project/program management and architectures to unblock innovation.
- Create predictable process paths for large and/or complex efforts.
A day in the life
Technical Infrastructure Program Managers in the Internet Edge organization have a wide range of responsibilities; We evolve routing policy, implement traffic engineering solutions, grow our peering footprint, secure the "front door" from bad actors on the Internet, and architect the hardware platforms and network design to support any Amazon product that needs to reach end-users worldwide. Our technical infrastructure moves terabits of traffic to and from the internet at any given moment, and represents one of the largest edge surface areas in the world, requiring complex solutions to ensure that capacity always stays ahead of demand. To accomplish this, our Technical Infrastructure Program Managers work with a diverse range of partner teams to continually improve and automate our internet connectivity in areas such as capacity delivery, configuration deployment, impairment detection, and traffic optimization. Technical Infrastructure Program Managers for the internet edge make decisions on both a day-to-day and long-term strategic basis, which carry a large amount of responsibility and impact across all of Amazon's products.
