Description & RequirementsWe Protect Bloomberg. The Bloomberg Security Incident Management (Sec IM) team provides consistent coordination and management of cybersecurity incidents and events across Bloomberg's diverse lines of business and global network.
What's the team?
Sec IM works closely with teams across Bloomberg's Chief Information Security Office, coordinating, commanding, and documenting responses for security incidents and high-profile security events. The team ensures responses are efficient and comprehensive, and plays a key role in identifying improvements. Key partners include incident responders, threat intelligence, vulnerability analysts, security project/program leads, and other teams within the company.
What's the role?
The successful candidate will focus on coordination, leadership, delegation, documentation, and identifying required response actions, rather than performing technical analyses like forensics. Responsibilities include managing security incidents to contain and remediate threats that could compromise Bloomberg's systems and data.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading and coordinating response efforts during security incidents, threats, and high-profile events, especially in the absence of senior staff.
- Scoping and executing appropriate response actions.
- Ensuring responses are sustainable for all involved resources.
- Supporting beyond normal hours during emergencies or staff shortages.
- Delegating tasks and managing them to completion or handoff.
- Facilitating communication across teams and documenting incident status.
- Maintaining metrics and reporting on incident management activities.
- Updating procedures and participating in scenario exercises and training.
- Conducting post-incident reviews to improve response strategies.
Requirements:
- Proven ability to manage tasks in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ownership and collaboration skills.
- Experience managing complex incidents or projects under stress.
- Effective communication in incident resolution.
- Commitment to team development.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
Preferred experience:
- 3+ years in a cybersecurity operations or incident management role.
- Experience with host/network incident response, data exposure workflows, or vulnerability remediation.
- Proactive tooling and process improvement experience.
- Ability to explain complex topics clearly.
If you believe you're a good fit, apply now. We will contact suitable candidates about next steps.
