Job Description:

The Automotive Audio & Networking (ANN) team partners with customers worldwide to deliver best-in-class technical solutions for the automotive market. We are looking to add an additional Systems Application Engineer to the growing ANN Applications team, focusing on a wide range of automotive network applications. As a member of the team, you will work directly with automotive OEMs, Tier 1s, and internal teams to support their product development and overcome any technical obstacles from product concept to production.

The Role

The Automotive Audio & Networking group has identified the need for a highly motivated and experienced Embedded Systems Engineer to support customers with their deployment of ADI-based network automotive solutions. The Embedded Systems Engineer is a key member of the team working on a breakthrough Automotive Cabin Electronics product within the Audio & Networking group. The Systems Application Engineer will collaborate closely with customers and others to develop product solutions, be a critical contributor to developing the product portfolio, winning business, and accelerating revenue.

1. Develop your technical expertise such that you are considered by colleagues and customers as a C2B, E2B & A2B applications expert.
2. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (Marketing, Design, Test & Evaluation, Field Applications/Market Segment) leading engagement and delivering to our customers.
3. Engage with the customer base and field teams to clearly understand the key challenges to be solved, analyze and drive to resolution, provide customer on-site training as required.
4. Create tools that make it faster and easier for our customers to design-in our products.
5. Translate the customer problem statements into product solutions. Think expansively and use a wide lens when solving problems.
6. Support customers through the product development process, from concept to product launch. Debug and solve customers' problems, reproduce customer issues to be resolved in the application lab.
7. Identify emerging technology trends and translate these into product proposals that drive the development of ADI's business and technology roadmaps.
8. Build and share technical & business expertise across ADI's applications teams.
9. Provide system expertise to IC design teams.
10. Develop proof-of-concept demos, system prototypes, and software tools (e.g., GUIs) to enable software integration and evaluation of ANN products in customers' systems.
11. Design, develop and debug automotive embedded software and ADI system software solutions, embedded driver development/modifications/enhancements.
12. Develop software to enable Customer System Demos, EMC test platforms, and Customer use case investigations.
13. Be proficient at programming in C/C++ and Python.
14. Have knowledge of the software development lifecycle, unit/functional/system test, and DevOps.
15. Have experience with microcontrollers (e.g., ARM processors) and low-level communication peripherals (including SPI, I2C, TDM, UART, CAN, etc.).
16. Have operating system knowledge, Linux, AutoSAR, as well as bare metal implementations.
17. Assist in building event demos and reference designs particularly in areas like edge sensing and GUI development.
18. Support customers with the use of drivers and use case development.

The Person

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or an equivalent professional qualification with 5+ years' experience. Excellent debugging/analytical skills and excellent communication skills are essential. A love of learning and problem-solving and enthusiasm about all things technology-related are key attributes.

The candidate is expected to employ solutions thinking and have demonstrated proficiency in electronic circuit design and embedded software development. A strong background of hands-on technical applications work is preferred, showing an ability to solve complex problems, debug systems, and replicate/deliver solutions on bench in hardware and software.

Each day will bring new and differing challenges. As the job requires constant communication with customers, it will necessitate travel within Europe as well as the US and Asia.

Preferred Knowledge

Knowledge in one or more of the following areas will make you stand out, but isn't required:

• Automotive or Industrial system design, processes, and platforms (ASPICE, AUTOSAR, etc.)
• Functional Safety (ISO 26262, or similar)
• Cyber Security (ISO/SAE 21434 or similar)
• Knowledge of communication protocols & interfaces (CAN, LIN, I2C, UART, SPI, Ethernet protocols, etc.)
• System modeling and simulations (Matlab, Simulink, Spice, etc.)
• Test and measurement experience for mixed-signal ICs and circuits
