Responsibilities:
  1. To develop new products, technology or know-how necessary to support the growth of the industrial adhesive business unit.
  2. Knowledge and experience required in formulation chemistry, analytical chemistry and/or application technology.
  3. Creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills required.
  4. Lead, plan and organize project team activities to achieve high quality outcomes and delivery according to project timelines.
  5. Ability to communicate well at all levels including with customers and other functions, presenting papers both internally and externally as appropriate.
  6. To lead, participate in and/or support Product Development Project Teams to bring new products to Market according to agreed procedures and systems.
  7. To provide a high level of competence in the chemistry and technology of products or the technology necessary to support Technology and Product Development e.g. appropriate analytical techniques or appropriate product scale up technology.
  8. To assist in the preparation of Product Change Notices (PCN's), Test methods, Specifications and Patent filing documents. Assist in the maintenance of Quality system approvals.
  9. To support sales and technical functions within the SBU or manufacturing functions as required.
  10. To participate in global teams and lead global projects as deemed appropriate.
Job Requirements:
  1. Minimum requirements: PhD in Chemistry / Material Science or equivalent, or B.Sc. in Chemistry / Material Science or equivalent with > 3 years relevant work experience.
  2. Supervise the work of a technician, technical specialist and/or Chemists.
  3. Act as project leader on product or technology development projects.
  4. Interact on a routine basis with some or all of the following people: Platform managers, Global Product Segment Manager, Regional Technical Services Manager, Manager of Service group, Manufacturing Plant Manager, Quality Manager.
  5. Ensuring that lab work is conducted in a safe manner in compliance with SHE and 5S requirements.
