Shannon, Ireland Project Foundry Full time

We're looking for a Data Business Analyst to help us accelerate data maturity and empower more of our business users to engage confidently with data. You'll play a central role in connecting business needs to our data capabilities, defining clear and practical requirements, and supporting adoption of tools like Power BI, Microsoft Purview, and Microsoft Fabric.

You'll work closely with data engineers, analysts, data stewards, and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions are meaningful, accessible, and aligned with governance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document data and reporting requirements.
  • Translate business needs into clear specifications for reports, dashboards, and data pipelines.
  • Define and maintain KPIs, metrics, and business rules in collaboration with data owners.
  • Develop and refine prototype dashboards and reports in Power BI to support stakeholder engagement.
  • Perform data validation and UAT to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
  • Support Data Owners and Data Stewards in defining and maintaining high-quality metadata, business glossaries, and data quality rules.
  • Help implement and champion Microsoft Purview for data cataloguing, lineage, and governance visibility.
  • Assist with the rollout and business enablement of Microsoft Fabric, promoting self-service analytics and data discovery.
  • Facilitate efforts to improve data literacy, enabling more business users to access, explore, and use data independently.
  • Contribute to initiatives that raise the organisation's overall data maturity, including training, documentation, and process development.

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst in a data-rich environment.
  • Strong skills in stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, and communication.
  • Proficiency with Power BI and Excel for reporting, prototyping, and analysis.
  • Good understanding of core data concepts (data quality, governance, KPIs, lineage).
  • Ability to work across technical and non-technical teams to align priorities and communicate clearly.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Fabric, or Azure Data Factory.
  • Familiarity with SQL and querying for data exploration or validation.
  • Exposure to data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM).
  • Knowledge of data modeling concepts or data architecture.
  • Experience contributing to self-service BI rollouts or data literacy programs.
