Overview

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a part-time 0.2 FTE, fixed term position as a Research Assistant with the Lung Biology Group, College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Galway, Ireland.

This position is funded by a European Defence Fund award and is available from the earliest agreed start date with a contract period of 16 months.

The lung biology group investigates causes and outcomes of pulmonary and systemic infection, and the development of novel therapies for the same. The EDF project is a Horizon Health EU funded programme which will examine the efficacy of a novel agent to counteract bacterial infection. As part of our team, this position will mainly centre around the pre-clinical monitoring aspects of the work.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to pre-clinical monitoring activities within the Lung Biology Group, College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, University of Galway.
Salary and terms
  • Salary: Research Assistant salary scale €33,291 - €43,372 per annum (subject to the project's funding limitations) and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts.
  • The default position for new public sector appointments is the 1st point of the salary scale; higher placements may be considered subject to evidence of prior experience and project funding.
  • Employment permit restrictions apply for this category of post.
