Overview

Job Title: Maintenance Fitter

Location: Charleville, Co. Cork

Reporting to: Maintenance Manager

Contract: Permanent

As a Maintenance Fitter at Dawn Meats Charleville you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our machinery and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of beef processing equipment, including conveyors, motor/gearbox and packaging machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot faults, and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to plan and execute preventative maintenance schedules, ensuring equipment longevity and optimal performance.
  • Replace and repair defective components, such as motors, bearings, belts, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality control standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment history.
  • Complete training and review of SOPs on compliance.

Your role will see you tackle a wide range of business challenges in a busy Maintenance/Engineering environment.

Qualifications
  • Time-served Mechanical, Automation & Maintenance Fitter (MAMF) or Time-served mechanic with a minimum of 2 years post-apprenticeship experience.
  • Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Experience with machines & process equipment, controls & automation.
  • Experience in electrical & mechanical installations, maintenance and refrigeration systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills relevant to the role.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability and logical problem-solving approach.
  • Full driving license.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team.
  • Flexible approach to working hours (overtime and on-call).
