M&E Design Associate Recruitment Consultant at Global Professional Consultants

A well-respected multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their Cork office. The successful candidate will have proven experience delivering hospital projects within an Irish consultancy and the ability to lead projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of electrical systems for medium to large-scale building projects from concept through to handover.
  • Oversee the preparation of specifications, drawings, reports, and schedules in compliance with current standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, architectural, and sustainability teams to deliver fully integrated solutions.
  • Manage workloads, delegate tasks, and mentor junior and intermediate engineers within the team.
  • Attend client, design, and site meetings, providing clear technical guidance throughout all project stages.
  • Ensure quality assurance, compliance, and health and safety standards are met across all design outputs.
  • Contribute to fee proposals, resource planning, and the delivery of projects within scope and budget.

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy environment in Ireland
  • Strong working knowledge of current Irish building regulations, IS standards, and CIBSE best practices.
  • Proficient in using Revit and electrical design software such as Dialux, Relux, and Amtech.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams and external stakeholders.
  • Chartered or actively working toward chartership (Engineers Ireland or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills.
