Sportsturf & Landscape Maintenance Team Leader

A vacancy exists for an experienced professional in the position of a Sportsturf & Landscape Maintenance Team Leader in the Campus Maintenance Team within the Estates and Facilities (E&F) Department of Trinity College Dublin. The role involves planning and leading high-quality campus maintenance services across all campuses, serving students, staff, and visitors of Trinity College Dublin and its wider estate.
The Sportsturf & Landscape Maintenance Team Leader will collaborate with the existing Campus Maintenance Team Leader to lead an in-house team of approximately 15 staff, including a senior grounds person, grounds persons, operatives, and craft gardeners. The role requires providing cohesive oversight, leadership, and supervision of the team and external contractors. The Team Leader will be part of the Leadership Team for Campus Maintenance, overseeing maintenance of landscaping, litter management, sports grounds, drainage, and the estate's tree collection.

- A level 7 qualification in Horticultural Science or equivalent.
- A level 6 qualification in Supervisory Management.
- At least 5 years relevant experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role within large, multi-faceted horticultural, landscape, sports turf, or grounds maintenance organizations.
- Experience in operational planning, development, and delivery of high-quality services.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters effectively.
- Quick thinking and problem-solving skills to make decisive actions.
- Technical knowledge of horticulture, sports turf, arboriculture, indoor planting, and related policies and procedures.
- Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and web-based tools, with high accuracy in written and numerical work.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations and risk management.
- Experience in project management and stakeholder planning within large organizations.
- Experience supervising in-house teams and external contractors, including contractual management.
