ICT Design Engineer, ICT Team EMEA

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we're looking for talented people who want to help. As an ICT Design Engineer you will be part of a global engineering team, comprised of Architects, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Control Engineers. AWS self-performs engineering on the majority of our capacity delivery projects. Our ICT Design and Engineering Team is a fast-growing, leading-edge group rethinking the design for critical communications pathways that connect hardware inside AWS data centers. You will work with engineers and managers across the company to develop connectivity solutions for the physical layer, provide pathway and cabling designs and specifications for construction and operation, and collaborate with industry suppliers to develop product requirements and recommend new technologies.

• Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber optic and copper plant designs and specifications.
• Review and approve ICT pathway, cable, and equipment submittals.
• Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively.
• Support new technology and design activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time.
• Travel 20% or more to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS data centers.
• Contribute creative, out-of-the-box solutions to design challenges.

Each day you will interact with teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers. You will prioritize activities to support data center capacity availability and safety, focusing on the most impactful actions. You may work on projects locally and globally.

• CNIDP (Certified Network Infrastructure Design Professional) and/or BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) Certification
• Information and Communications Technology (ICT) design experience in Mission Critical Environments
• Experience with Fiber Optic components, cabling, interconnect products, technologies, and standards
• Experience bringing new design concepts from exploration through deployment/construction

• Certified Network Infrastructure Design Professional
• Registered Communications Distribution Designer Certificate
• Experience in Revit, AutoCAD or other CAD tools
• Ability to think creatively to reduce costs while maintaining quality, reliability, and maintainability
• Ability to prioritize and deliver results in a complex, fast-paced environment with strong communication to users, technical teams, and senior management
