In this role, you lead the board to ensure governance best practice, legal responsibilities are met, and the interests of members are fairly represented. The Chair helps board members to govern effectively.
Responsibilities- Leading the Board: guide governance in line with best practices and legal responsibilities.
- Setting the Agenda: structure board meetings and highlight topics requiring board decisions.
- Chairing Board Meetings: use tools and techniques to facilitate effective meetings and manage diverse personalities.
- Working with Senior Staff: support the relationship between the board and the organisation's most senior staff member (e.g., CEO or Project Co-ordinator); chairperson delegated responsibilities in many boards.
- Succession Planning: actively seek nominations and expressions of interest from potential board members, in collaboration with board members and senior staff.
