We are seeking a seasoned and proactive Head of Operational Risk to lead and enhance our operational risk framework during a period of strategic development and system transformation. This is a high-impact role requiring deep expertise in operational and enterprise risk management, strong oversight of third-party delegates, and the ability to lead critical risk initiatives from day one. The role will also play a key part in shaping governance frameworks and delivering risk insights to senior stakeholders through high-quality board reporting and MI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day activities related to operational risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Embed a strong risk culture and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory expectations.

Strategic Initiatives & Projects:

  • Drive the ongoing project to update and enhance risk registers across the organization.
  • Oversee the successful implementation and integration of RiskConnect, the new enterprise risk solution.
  • Lead the due diligence process for external delegates (typically conducted in Q2/Q3), including managing DDQ processes and coordinating onsite reviews.
  • Maintain robust oversight of delegates, ensuring they meet operational risk standards and align with enterprise risk objectives.
  • Conduct and lead annual assessments post-onboarding or review.

Governance & Reporting:

  • Develop and enhance governance frameworks that support operational risk and enterprise-wide risk oversight.
  • Produce and deliver effective board reporting and management information (MI), offering insights into key risk exposures, trends, and controls.
  • Present clear, concise, and actionable risk insights to senior management, committees, and the board.
  • Apply a strategic enterprise risk lens to all operational risk activities, helping bridge the gap between operational and broader organizational risks.
  • Provide informed challenge and expert review of the risk environment, enhancing decision-making across the business.

Key Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in operational risk management, ideally within financial services or asset management.
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver risk transformation projects, including risk register design and implementation of risk systems (e.g., RiskConnect or similar platforms).
  • Strong understanding of third-party risk management, including DDQ coordination, onsite assessments, and ongoing oversight.
  • Experience designing and embedding governance frameworks and delivering board-level reporting and MI.
  • Strategic thinker with an enterprise risk mindset and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to provide an immediate, informed view of the firm's risk posture and areas for improvement.
  • Experience working with RiskConnect or similar GRC platforms.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to operational and enterprise risk.
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance and mature risk frameworks in a dynamic environment.
