Reporting to the director in charge, the key requirements of the role will include:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Overall responsibility & accountability for the Collen Plant Department.
  • Drive the development and implementation of Collen asset management strategies.
  • Manage all plant & asset lifecycle activities, including acquisition, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Dispatch and return of all plant & assets relative to project requirements.
  • Manage the planned and reactive maintenance of all project assets including site cabins, tools, plant, equipment, and vehicle fleet. Minimize downtime and maximize asset productivity.
  • Develop a full lifecycle cost register of all plant and equipment, including identifying the optimum lifespan of each.
  • Responsible for procuring and/or hiring plant and equipment at the most economical cost.
  • Generate Hire versus Buy appraisals for all site plant and equipment.
  • Maintain the most economical procurement and/or hire approach through strategic engagement with vendors.
  • Procure all site and vehicle fuel and replacement parts requirements.
  • Ensure profitability of the Plant Department by efficient cost management and revenue management.
  • Set and administer internal charge-out of all plant department related costs to projects.
  • Manage the central workshop and yard.
  • Oversee site logistics requirements, including haulage as needed by projects.
  • Maintain technical understanding of large plant items including tower and mobile cranes.
  • Manage re-use, sale, and recycling of plant assets effectively.
  • Handle vehicle incidents and accidents, organizing efficient repair and rescue solutions.
  • Align plant management with the company's sustainability strategy.
  • Research and provide guidance on the latest plant and equipment innovations.
  • Assign vehicles and maintain records for BIK.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance, including booking NCT, DOE, insurance, and taxes.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for all plant, vehicles, and tools, complying with best practices and regulations.
  • Organize and report on maintenance schedules, breakdowns, and faults.
  • Minimize downtime and maximize asset value.
  • Develop plans for replacing or upgrading obsolete assets.
  • Be the point of contact for onboarding new employees related to company vehicles and plant services.
  • Track, trace, and document all leased and hired assets.
  • Organize biannual inspections and testing of lift devices (forklifts, chains, slings, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, environmental, and sustainability requirements.
Reporting
  • Prepare prequalification, tender, and tender return appraisals for vehicle, equipment, and plant supply.
  • Generate monthly reports and data analytics.
Commercial
  • Maintain high commercial awareness in managing company plant & assets.
  • Manage asset management budgets and provide expenditure forecasts.
  • Review existing contracts and supplier agreements.
  • Reconcile creditor statements for all plant and assets.
  • Oversee invoice processing in line with procurement procedures.
  • Compare purchase versus hire/lease costs regularly.
  • Process and monitor orders, liaising with stakeholders and suppliers.
