Our DS Smith Packaging site in Northfields is searching for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, ideally with a Mechanical or Electrical bias. You will work closely with engineering colleagues, Operations, OEMs, and vendors to develop and implement best practices and increase plant and asset reliability.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role, requiring you to carry out duties related to Preventative Maintenance schedules. Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, you will ensure tasks are completed to high standards and in accordance with current regulations and company policies on health and safety, quality, hygiene, housekeeping, delivery, and cost.

This is a days-only role, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all maintenance activities meet quality standards regarding workmanship, processes, and procedures to achieve plant quality targets.
  • Follow and implement company procedures and controls to manage maintenance costs and meet plant cost performance targets.
  • Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance, providing feedback reports.
  • Identify and source parts through the engineering stores.
  • Conduct dynamic risk assessments for all maintenance tasks.
  • Control stocks of materials and consumables.
  • Familiarize yourself with all stop devices and procedures on equipment under your charge.
  • Maintain awareness of shared responsibilities to keep factory areas up to standards and ensure team members are informed of their responsibilities.

This is a multi-skilled role with a Mechanical/Electrical bias.

  • You should be a fully qualified multi-skilled maintenance technician, accredited to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or BTEC.
  • Experience in PPM implementation, delivery, and control within a maintenance environment is essential.
  • Good knowledge of continuous improvement techniques such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Root Cause Problem Solving, gained within a fast-paced, multi-shift manufacturing environment, is required.
