  • Salary: The gross salary scale applicable to this post is €68,253 to €105,605 per annum plus a supervisory allowance of €2,517 per annum (as at 01/08/2025).

The Assistant Head of Department in the Faculty of Education and Lifelong Learning will be responsible for managing a number of funded research projects (Erasmus+, EU4Health, European University Alliance EU Conexus) in the Department of Education. The role will involve working with a range of stakeholders including other Faculties across SETU, other HEI's, funding agencies and international partners. The AHoD also supports a number of Faculty initiatives designed to build research capacity including the Faculty Research Strategy, programmes funded under the VP Research Strategic Fund (starting in AY 25/26), research outputs including metrics supporting publication, dissemination and impact of the research taking place in the Faculty.

The Faculty of Education and Lifelong Learning is one of six academic faculties in SETU. The Faculty houses two academic departments (Education and Lifelong Learning), the Literacy Development Centre (a national centre for the professional development of staff working in adult literacy). The Faculty offers a portfolio of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and is research active across a number of domains including adult and community education, adult literacy, teacher education, management and leadership in education and teaching and learning in higher education.
