CEG is now seeking a suitable candidate to join our team as a Librarian & Researcher. The Librarian & Researcher will be responsible for managing the physical and online library resources, including making sure there is a well-organised library collection, providing information services, and conducting research to support the organisation's knowledge needs. This individual will be expected to assist with information retrieval, curating resources, and conducting research projects.

The research element of the role will involve conducting data analysis, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and ethical standards. The Librarian & Researcher will work closely with the Directors of Quality, Deans of School/Programme Coordinators, academic and administrative staff to foster a vibrant research culture and contribute to CEG's strategic goals. They will play a strategic role in promoting and enabling research in CEG. They will need to monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of the research activities of and within CEG and use this information to inform our research strategy as needed.

Principal Duties
  1. Maintain and develop CEG's online and physical libraries, ensuring they meet the required needs of the students.
  2. Selecting, ordering and cataloging new materials such as books, journals, digital resources etc.
  3. Sourcing, Implementing and managing a digital library management system.
  4. Keeping the library collection up-to-date and ensuring all items remain in good condition.
  5. Assisting learners with sourcing the required materials and maintaining records of borrowed materials and returns.
  6. Promoting the libraries resources for learners and staff.
  7. Undertake projects that relate to the Library Services.
  8. Implement CEG's research strategy, ensuring its alignment with broader academic goals, in consultation with the Directors of Quality and taking due regard of CEG policy.
  9. Facilitate research-related workshops and training sessions for staff and students.
  10. Assist in designing, implementing, and evaluating research projects aligned with institutional priorities.
  11. Ensure that CEG has an active research programme and promote a positive research culture within the group.
  12. Develop and manage research methodologies for data collection, including surveys, interviews, and case studies.
  13. Drive research excellence, ensure research quality and integrity, and support continuous improvement across faculties and departments.
  14. Act as a source of information and advice on research issues.
  15. Promote the dissemination of research outcomes through publications, conferences, public engagement, and partnerships with industry, government, and other sectors.
  16. Collaborate with faculty members and departments to develop research proposals and funding applications.
  17. Representing CEG at relevant external events.
  18. Support the Deans of School/Programme Coordinators in the mentoring of staff in relation to their research.
The successful candidate will have key relationships with, but not limited to:

Director of Quality for Teaching Learning & Assessment, Director of Quality for Academic Affairs, Deans of Schools, Programme Leads/Coordinators, Faculty and academic research staff across all disciplines.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. A deep understanding of the library environment.
  2. High level of IT and digital proficiency.
  3. Dedication to customer services.
  4. Ability to manage time, workload and other resources effectively.
  5. A publication record in high-impact journals is desirable.
  6. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  7. An understanding of national and international research funding landscapes.
  8. Ability to foster a collaborative, innovative research culture.
  9. Strong commitment to research ethics, integrity, and quality.
  10. Ability to engage with external stakeholders, including policymakers, industry leaders, and funding bodies.
Job Type: Full-time

Location: Dublin City - onsite position

Salary Range: €40,000 - €50,000 Depending on Experience
