Staff Grade Psychologist

Applications are invited for the position of Staff Grade Psychologist in CDNT in Athlone, Co Westmeath.

The Children's Disability Network Team provides a Family-Centred, Interdisciplinary Team Service to children with complex disability needs aged 0 to 18 years in their local community. The successful candidate will work with two Senior Psychologists as part of the interdisciplinary team, providing a team-based service to CDNT children and young people and their families, in accordance with the HSE National Health Policy, Progressing Disability Services for children and young people.

Essential criteria for a Staff Grade Psychologist
  1. A recognised University degree or Diploma (QQI level 8 or equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours, with Psychology as a major subject.
  2. A recognised postgraduate professional qualification in clinical, counselling, or educational psychology, or an equivalent validated by the Department of Health. Applications from 2023 Doctoral Graduates are welcome.
  3. Applicants who qualified outside of the Republic of Ireland must have their qualifications validated by the Department of Health and Children and the Psychological Society of Ireland.
  4. Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and effective caseload management skills. Good planning, organisation, and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable for Staff Grade Psychologist
  1. Experience in assessment and delivery of clinical interventions for children with complex disability needs, including physical, sensory, intellectual disabilities, and/or Autism.
  2. Work experience or training placement in a disability service with children with disabilities.
  3. Experience supporting children and young people with life-limiting conditions.
  4. Experience supporting children and families/carers in managing behaviours that challenge.
  5. Experience in Family-Centred approaches to goal setting.
  6. Full clean driving licence and access to a car.
