Galway, Galway, Ireland Agency Full time

Clinical Nurse Specialist – Renal / Ambulatory Care
Location: Galway
Contract Type: Fixed-Term (Approx. 18 Months)
Working Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) with expertise in Renal Nursing to join a leading ambulatory care service in Galway. This is an exciting contract role, ideal for a nursing professional who thrives in autonomous practice and is passionate about improving outcomes in chronic kidney care.

The Role:

As Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality haemodialysis care, driving transplant coordination, and managing clinical interventions aligned with the latest evidence-based guidelines. You'll also be at the forefront of nurse-led services, championing patient advocacy and best practice in renal health.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate key elements of the haemodialysis service, including anaemia and bone mineral disorder management.

  • Lead transplant work-up, evaluation, and post-transplant follow-up for eligible patients.

  • Prescribe and manage the Hepatitis B vaccination programme, including titre monitoring and booster protocols.

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and deliver patient-centred care plans.

  • Analyse and report monthly audit data and clinical metrics for quality assurance.

  • Provide clinical education, specialist advice, and promote health awareness among patients.

  • Maintain a strong focus on infection control and patient safety.

What We're Looking For:
  • Registered Nurse (RGN) with active NMBI registration.

  • Postgraduate qualification in Renal Nursing (essential).

  • Strong experience working with haemodialysis patients in a clinical setting.

  • Confident in clinical decision-making, nurse prescribing, and working independently.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.

  • Fully eligible to work in Ireland.

Key Attributes:
  • Patient-first approach with strong clinical leadership.

  • Committed to continuous improvement and evidence-based practice.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in audit and reporting.

  • Demonstrated collaboration within multidisciplinary environments.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a rewarding role where your expertise will directly impact patients living with chronic renal conditions. If you're ready to take the next step in your nursing career, we'd love to hear from you.
