Overview

Sr Analyst, Compliance Investigations – PayPal. This job is responsible for ensuring that activity within the PayPal system is compliant with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and guidelines. You will be an AML Subject Matter Expert, with emphasis on High-Risk and Complex Investigations, including the creation, monitoring, and timely delivery of SARs to local regulators. In the preparation of SARs, you will exercise independent judgment handling highly sensitive casework. You will investigate customer activity across multiple platforms to ensure that it falls within acceptable parameters established by governing bodies including, but not limited to, relevant Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs).

Essential Responsibilities
  • Applying analytic techniques to complex information sets to make logical and effectively supported recommendations on cases for reporting, supporting PayPal's fiduciary responsibility under the Bank Secrecy Act (AML) to detect and report suspicious activity.
  • Assessing customer profiles and large data sets to ensure normal and expected activity, including Acceptable Use Policy adherence and Know Your Customer (KYC) efforts.
  • Documenting complex findings in clear narrative format in both manual and automated case management systems and preparing reports to management as required.
  • Regularly exercising good judgment in making decisions or recommendations in relation to multiple complex case investigations.
  • Focusing on High-Risk and complex investigations within the team's broader mandate.
  • Analyzing trends in the use of crypto on the PayPal platform to identify potential abuse and ensure detections are effective.
  • Leveraging internal data and open-source research platforms to investigate illicit activities and support investigative decisions.
  • Documenting findings in narrative form in case management systems and preparing management reports as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
