Manager, Strategic Supply Chain, Kuiper - Inventory and Fulfillment Technology (IFT)

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

A successful candidate will be a strong communicator across internal teams, the AFN network, executive leadership, and their direct reports. They will balance the day-to-day operational requirements while driving improvements in key supply chain metrics such as cost, speed, and efficiency. They will be responsible for building an operational network from the ground up, including setting up logistics lanes, defining SLAs, and establishing scalable processes to support global expansion.

Flexibility and the ability to navigate a fast-paced environment will be essential. The individual in this role will proactively identify risks, implement mitigation plans, and optimize fulfillment processes, particularly in regions where Amazon does not currently operate. They will develop strong and collaborative relationships with internal partners to ensure seamless execution while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Build and lead a team responsible for establishing and scaling supply chain operations, ensuring seamless execution across fulfillment, transportation, logistics, and reverse logistics.
  2. Develop and implement an operational network from the ground up, setting up logistics lanes, defining SLAs, and establishing scalable processes to support global expansion.
  3. Maintain strong relationships with internal partners, including the AFN network, to drive operational alignment and efficiency.
  4. Define and monitor key supply chain KPIs such as cost, speed, efficiency, on-time performance, and fulfillment rates, driving continuous improvement.
  5. Establish and lead Weekly Business Reviews (WBRs) to track performance, address bottlenecks, and implement data-driven optimizations.
  6. Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively solve supply chain challenges, particularly in regions where Amazon does not currently operate.
  7. Optimize fulfillment strategies by working cross-functionally with logistics partners, stakeholders, and leadership to enhance supply chain performance.
  8. Foster a high-performance culture by mentoring team members, driving accountability, and ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.

About the team

The Inventory & Fulfillment Technology (IFT) team is responsible for building and optimizing the global supply chain network that powers Amazon's fulfillment and logistics operations. Our mission is to ensure the efficient, cost-effective, and timely movement of goods, from inventory management to fulfillment, across all regions. We focus on developing scalable solutions to enhance operational efficiency, including transportation, logistics, and reverse logistics, to support Amazon's rapidly expanding footprint.

We work closely with internal partners across the organization to design, implement, and continuously improve processes that enable Amazon to fulfill customer orders faster and more cost-effectively. By leveraging advanced technologies, data analytics, and cross-functional collaboration, the IFT team plays a critical role in Amazon's global supply chain strategy.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. 10+ years of experience in program or project management within supply chain or logistics
  2. 10+ years of experience in supply chain operations, logistics, or transportation management
  3. Proven experience in owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and effectively communicating results to senior leadership
  4. Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, logistics, engineering, analytics, or a related field
  5. Extensive experience working cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical teams
  6. Demonstrated ability to define program requirements and utilize data and metrics to drive continuous improvements
  7. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, index/match, vlookup, VBA, data links, etc.)
  8. Experience with SQL and ETLM processes for data analysis and reporting
  9. Strong analytical aptitude with the ability to mine, interpret, and analyze large, complex datasets
  10. Proven ability to build and manage relationships with internal stakeholders, third-party partners, and logistics vendors
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
  2. MBA or advanced degrees in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field
  3. Experience in building, leading, and managing high-performing teams in a supply chain or logistics environment
  4. Expertise in international supply chain management and global operations
  5. Experience in managing strategic relationships with third-party logistics providers, partners, and external vendors
  6. Proven ability to solve complex problems creatively by adapting frameworks or leveraging industry best practices
  7. Strong track record of driving scalability and innovation in supply chain solutions
  8. Knowledge of reverse logistics processes and strategies, with a focus on optimizing cost, speed, and efficiency

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
