Teach Tearmainn is a registered charity dedicated to providing a suite of free and confidential support services to women and children across County Kildare who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse. Teach Tearmainn provide a range of support services designed to support and empower women and children.

Services Include

Helpline support

Refuge and safe home accomodation

Court Accompaniment

Women's Outreach Centre - One to one and group supports available

Children and young person support service - One to one and group supports available.

Training and Education project.

Teach Tearmainn are seeking to recruit prospective Directors who are passionate about women and children's rights who are committed to the elimination of Domestic abuse and violence against women and children.

The Board of Teach Tearmainn is seeking an enthusiastic Director to join its Board. The ideal candidate will have Marketing, PR and Communications experience at a senior level in corporate or government department.

This Board of Directors role is unpaid in line with the Charities Regulator requirements.

Responsibilities Will Include The Following

  • Assisting in developing and implementing marketing, communications and PR campaigns to effectively convey our key messages and themes
  • Ensuring best practices in marketing, public relations, and communications
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.

Essential Skills/Qualities Required For These Roles
  • A deep appreciation of the Not-For-Profit sector and its workings
  • At least 3 years' experience operating at a senior level
  • An understanding of and commitment to our mission and vision and the ability to collaborate effectively with fellow Directors and our Executive team.
  • Dedication to upholding the highest standards of charity governance.
  • Ability to think strategically and to contribute to the overall well-being and direction of the organisation.
  • Previous experience or knowledge of the charity sector is desirable e.g., previous board or sub-committee roles or volunteering experience.

Charities Regulator's General Duties of a Charity Trustee
  • Comply with the Charity's governing document.
  • Ensuring charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit.
  • Acting in the best interest of the charity
  • Act with Reasonable Care and Skill
  • Manage the assets of your charity.

Board Meetings

Board meetings are scheduled annually and take place approximately every 6 weeks. These meetings usually take place in person in Naas or Kildare Town.

Board Sub-Committee meetings are also usually held online.
