About The Compass Clinic
The Compass Clinic (formerly West Cork Psychology) is a private psychology service based in Cork, offering high-quality neurodevelopmental assessments and psychological support to children, adolescents, and adults. Our practice is neuroaffirmative, client-centred, and trauma-informed, and we are committed to providing respectful, evidence-based care that recognises the diversity of neurodivergent experiences.
Our multidisciplinary team is expanding, and we are currently seeking a Senior Psychologist to join our growing service. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a values-driven clinic during an exciting period of development and service innovation.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychologist to take a lead role in providing autism assessments for children. This is the core focus of the role, and as such, extensive experience in conducting autism assessments in children is essential.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to other aspects of service delivery, including assessments with adults (where suitably experienced), ADHD assessments across the lifespan, service development initiatives, and clinical supervision of junior team members. The role involves both independent and collaborative working within a flexible, supportive, and forward-thinking team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver comprehensive, neuroaffirmative autism assessments for children.
- Prepare clear and clinically robust psychological reports that communicate assessment findings with care and accuracy.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary formulation, consultation, and reflective practice within the team.
- Hold and manage a clinical caseload with autonomy and clinical integrity.
- Participate in developing service pathways, resources, and clinical protocols.
- Provide clinical leadership and contribute to a culture of shared learning and inclusive practice.
- Promote and uphold equality, diversity, and human rights in all aspects of your work.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Doctorate in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology (or equivalent where pre-doctorate accreditation was applicable).
- Qualification recognised by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or British Psychological Society (BPS).
- Eligible for Chartered membership of the PSI.
- Minimum of two years' post-qualification experience as a psychologist.
- For UK-trained psychologists, Department of Health validation is not required where a recognised doctorate has been completed.
Essential Experience and Attributes
- Extensive experience conducting autism assessments in children.
- Strong knowledge of neurodevelopmental conditions and current best practices in assessment.
- Commitment to neuroaffirmative practice and client-centred care.
- Motivation to contribute to service development and team growth.
- Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and IT proficiency.
- Respectful, inclusive, and empathetic approach to working with clients and colleagues.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in ADHD assessments in children.
- Experience in ADHD and/or autism assessments in adults.
Why Join Us?
- Work at the heart of a purpose-driven, neuroaffirmative service.
- Lead on meaningful, life-changing work with children and families.
- Enjoy a flexible, supportive, and respectful working environment.
- Help shape the future of a growing clinic.
- Benefit from a competitive salary, generous leave, pension scheme, CPD support, and more.
