Orion Group Life Sciences are currently recruiting an MS&T Scientist on behalf of our Multinational Biopharmaceutical Client based in Meath on an initial 11-Month contract with potential to extend.

This role is part of the Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T) hub at our state-of-the-art, single-use, multi-product facility in Meath.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and execute analytical testing to support USP-DSP scale-down model establishments, satellite runs and investigation/improvement studies in the MS&T lab.
  2. Plan and execute DSP laboratory studies (i.e. chromatography runs, filter assessments).
  3. Support the transfer of analytical methods into the MS&T laboratory.
  4. Provide specialist analytical support to the site and the network for non-routine analysis and troubleshooting.
  5. Experimental design, execution, data analysis and interpretation.
  6. Author and review standard operating procedures and technical reports.
  7. Support multidisciplinary teams (MS&T, quality, analytics, regulatory) for process improvement and troubleshooting.
  8. Ensure effective application of Lean SixSigma and Change Management tools in the Analytical Sciences group.
  9. Facilitate problem solving & risk assessment (FMEA) projects/meetings.
  10. Serve as an analytical specialist during internal audits and external inspections/audits.
  11. Support alignment and knowledge exchange with development organizations, other commercial nodes and external manufacturing partners.
  12. Lead and coach others to solve problems and take new perspectives on existing solutions.
  13. Complete product robustness monitoring in partnership with global technical teams and provide leadership for investigations.
  14. Demonstrate a "safety first, quality always" mindset in all responsibilities.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  1. Bachelor of Science degree qualification with minimum 5 years of experience, Master of Science degree qualification with minimum of 3 years experience, or PhD degree qualification (scientific discipline in biotechnology, biochemistry, pharmacy, process engineering or equivalent).
  2. Technical expertise with biologics drug substance upstream and downstream operations, analytical testing, process development and tech transfer.
  3. Proven ability to work as part of a team but also on own initiative.
  4. Ability to think logically and be proactive under pressure.
  5. Effective communicator with deep technical expertise in science.
  6. Proven ability to work cross-functionally, focusing on meeting and tracking schedules.
  7. Experience working in a GMP / regulated environment is desirable.
