POSITION SUMMARY:

In this position, you will:

  • Supervise the day-to-day operation of the dispensary and professional pharmacy services.
  • Provide pharmaceutical services in accordance with all legislative, contractual, professional, and ethical obligations, including:
    • Ensuring prescriptions are safe and appropriate for patients.
    • Dispensing medicines in accordance with all standard operating procedures.
  • Provide professional advice to patients, pharmacy staff, and other health professionals about health and medicines.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your typical duties and tasks will include:

  • Complete/manage the dispensing process including:
    • Ensuring prescriptions are safe and appropriate for the patient.
    • Ensuring all prescriptions comply with legislative and contractual requirements.
    • Supervising dispensing staff throughout the dispensing process.
    • Ensuring all prescriptions are correct before they are given to the patient.
    • Ensuring all prescriptions are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure date checking is done according to store operations.
  • Provide expert advice to patients regarding the safe and appropriate use of all medicines and complementary medicines.
  • Guide pharmacy staff about the safe and appropriate use of medicines, particularly OTC and pharmacy-only medicines.
  • Assess patients' symptoms, provide treatment advice, and identify patients requiring referral.
  • Supervise and direct pharmacy staff activities.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with patients, customers, and suppliers.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse groups including patients and health professionals.
  • Ensure pharmacy claims are correct and transmitted timely.
  • Organize work to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality service, honesty, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Ensure personal work quality and safety for yourself and others.
  • Follow safety instructions and operational procedures.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably assigned by supervisors.Seniority level
