The Data Center Global Services team is looking for a Controls Engineer for Construction (BMS/EPMS), responsible for the building automation systems within Amazon data centers to join our EMEA team. If you are passionate about the customer experience, think and act globally and have the ability to contribute to major new innovations in the area of building controls and automation this is the challenge you are looking for

Our Control Engineers' technical background across project/construction management, mechanical, electrical or technology background enable them to undertake the challenges of sophisticated controls platforms to strategically align building controls and automation with the larger objectives of the business. They work individually and as part of a team to develop new products, support existing products, test and evaluate equipment.

Controls Engineers in AWS deploy, maintain BMS (Building Management System) & EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring System) across our leased/colocation data centers.

They coordinate with AWS DCEO (Data Center Engineering Operations) teams to implement new builds, upgrades etc., and ensures high availability and high resiliency of these control systems.

Key job responsibilities

Your role responsibilities:

1. Ascertain customer needs to help develop project scope and specifications.
2. Manage scopes of work relative to the site specifics and customer needs.
3. Manage project engineering to determine the scope of work relative to the design intent of the customer needs.
4. Read and interpret specifications and implement those specifications as they apply to the work environment.
5. Develop control panel BOMs.
6. Develop ISA data sheets for temperature, level, flow, and pressure transmitters along with ISA data sheets for control valves, positioners, analytical, and various other types of instrumentation.
7. Develop drawings for control panels, power distribution, junction boxes. Included in the drawings are the general arrangement, internal layout, schematics, and interconnection and wire diagrams.
8. Develop logic diagrams in the International Automation format for complex logic devices such as Programmable Logical Controller and Distributed Control System.
9. Prepare cable, routing plans and schedules.
10. Perform inspections, testing, and commissioning of the facility systems.
11. Provide technical assistance as needed to internal customers.
12. Coordinate project work internally within the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.
13. Travel domestically and internationally to support other regions.

A day in the life of a Controls Engineer may begin with deployment efforts including on-site site management works, directing Controls vendors for installation/commissioning works and is responsible for quality and on-time delivery of the tasks/project. While managing service works, CE will coordinate with Operations teams for permits and engage Vendor or perform services confirming to the task lists.

Minimum Qualifications

1. B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, HVAC, or other related engineering degrees.
2. Minimum Three (3) years in BMS or EPMS Controls related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Have an understanding of: electrical diagrams, control diagrams, building operations, control circuits, industrial HVAC.
4. Demonstrated success in leading and managing teams, preferably in a Controls, Mechanical or electrical construction environment.
5. Experience as a Controls Engineering Specialist.
6. Minimum 3 years of field service experience preferably with the following products: Siemens: Apogee Honeywell: Building Controls/Trend Schneider Electric: PowerLogic/Struxureware Power User Level Windows Skill Set. Project management, organization, and problem solving skills with a drive for results and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
7. Masters in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, HVAC, or other related engineering degrees. Certificates including (Project Management qualification (PMP, IPMA, IPMC), Lean or Six Sigma, Trend / IQ Vision Certified, Niagra N4 Certified, Schneider certified Engineer, Distech certified Engineer).
