
Systems Administrator

FINEOS is seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator with a strong focus on enterprise backup and recovery, particularly using Commvault. This hands-on role is part of our global IT Operations team, supporting a dynamic and expanding IT environment. You'll be instrumental in ensuring data integrity, system resilience, and compliance across our infrastructure. It will also involve managing, monitoring, maintaining some of our key systems and ensuring end users remain compliant within existing IT Policies.

Responsibilities- This role is very much 'hands on' and will comprise of mainly systems and software support and administration across multiple FINEOS sites.
- Primarily focused on 2nd line support, but the ideal candidate should also be proficient in O365 with extensive knowledge in the management of various M365 platforms (Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint).
- Commvault responsibilities:
- A working experience of Commvault is essential with a primary focus on backup and recovery operations.
- Manage, monitor, and maintain Commvault 11 infrastructure across multiple sites and cloud environments.
- Design and implement backup strategies, retention policies, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Troubleshoot and optimize backup jobs, storage policies, and deduplication processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure data protection compliance and restore readiness.
- Management of Azure and AzureAD is a must and experience with Azure Virtual Desktop infrastructure highly desirable.
- The role requires significant problem-solving skills which will involve liaising with internal and/or support personnel and with other organizations such as customers and suppliers.
- Mainly working with Windows and Backoffice applications including (but not limited to) Windows Server 2019/2022/2025, Active Directory administration, Windows 10/11 desktop troubleshooting, Office 365 suite, IP Networks basics.
- The role will entail direct interaction with FINEOS staff/teams worldwide and requires the ability to deal with support issues in a timely, professional and courteous manner.
- Working within a VMware virtual environment the ideal candidate will have experience of VMware 7 (and above).
- Active participation and input into various IT projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience of most of the following:
- Win 10/Win 11 - Desktop
- Commvault 11: Deep hands-on experience with backup infrastructure, policies, and troubleshooting.
- Backup Methodologies: Proven knowledge of backup lifecycle, offsite replication, and recovery testing.
- 2016/2019/2022/2025 – Server / Microsoft AD, DNS, DHCP management
- Experience of the full Microsoft 365 suite and overall management essential
(to include underlying security principles)
- Experience of Exchange / M365 / EntraID end user administration essential
- Experience with DELL hardware preferred.
- SAN / NAS experience (Pure Storage)
- Familiarity with Linux / Apple / Android systems and related technologies
- Manage and maintain security policies and procedures to safeguard systems and data.
- Address vulnerabilities and ensure systems comply with best practices and regulations.
- Corporate Antivirus / EDR management
- Ability to Automate and Script procedures (PowerShell, CLI, PowerCLI)
- Experience with various networking technologies – (Routers, Firewalls, Switches, VPN, Wi-Fi Networks)
- VMware / Hyper-V virtualization experience
- Knowledge of Unix /Linux desirable
- Ideally the candidate must have at least 5+ years' relevant experience in supporting and troubleshooting mainly Microsoft products / operating systems.
- Proven problem-solving ability in IT support including hardware, software and networking is essential.
- Exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills required.
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to speak the English language proficiently, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and on one's own initiative, as well as being an active and contributing part of a team.
- Ability to pick up new concepts quickly.
- Proven time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Must be self-motivated and enthusiastic.
- Information Technology Industry certification a distinct advantage e.g. Microsoft, Cisco, RedHat, VMware, CommVault, etc.
- Decisive, dynamic, and capable of delivering to a high standard level of support, able to work with/under any constraints that may be in place.
- Conscientious, trustworthy, and capable of organising and delivering on tasks with little direction.
- Strong troubleshooting and communications skills are an absolute necessity
- Capable of adjusting their approach for the varied staff supported
- Process oriented with great attention to detail.
